early life | |
Carly doesn't talk too much about her earlier life - it's a rarity if you hear of it at all. Mostly because there's not too much to tell. Her mother is a widower, daughter of an off-the-boat immigrant, and, consequentially, for lack of a better description, very very very Asian. She had a bit of a strict upbringing - which was probably unnecessary, growing up in one of the most liberal states in the country, with constant internet access. Carly somehow managed to grow up entirely mentally independent of her mother, incredibly left-wing where her mother was conservative and reserved. Her flair for creative dressing, body modification and the like was not taken well. Her sexual orientation, even less so. Carly was thrown out of the house when she was sixteen. She lived between a few friends' houses for a year, saved up enough money at her job to buy a shit apartment afterward. Which is where she lives now. Yay! | |

Carly is currently an art major at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. She's going specifically for photography, although she does mess around with other mediums - illustration, coloring, and she's very fond of comic book inking! What would be her real goal, strangely enough considering her very strange outfit choices of her own, is some sort of fashion photographer! Since she knows she has a snowball's chance in hell of achieving that, probably, she will settle for... anything that pays her rent. That would be very nice. As a consequence, on the side, she works as a cashier at Newbury Comics in Boston. And is very lucky she doesn't spend her entire paycheck there. | |

So here's the part very few people know about Carly. In fact, she can count them on-- about four fingers. It's not something she exactly likes bragging about. As of today, Carly's been diagnosed with several mental disorders, varying in degrees. She's depressive, also showing acute signs of a self-destructive borderline personality and agoraphobia. Carly has anxiety problems so severe that she tends to shy away from most socialization, unless it's necessary. Carly is just also very charismatic, good at putting up a mask - it's difficult to tell how uncomfortable she is around people. On top of those, she's had battles with eating disorders - is currently balancing a kind of anorexia (restricting herself to as little as 500 calories a day), with occurrences of bulimia (binging on too much junk food, and then yarfing). More yay! All of this sounds incredibly melodramatic and other things, but no need to fret, she probably - no, read: definitely, no way in a million years ever - will not share with you. She's had friends for years that don't have an inkling other than strange mood funks she falls into. A suicide attempt left her in the hospital, and then into mental care - outpatient therapy twice a week. At least for a few months before she quit altogether to cope on her own. Comic books and chainsmoking are coping. Right? | |

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Miyavi. Yes, I am thoroughly aware he is a boy in actuality, and Carlene is a girl. But you look at pictures of him and tell me you don't, at least once, think, "Hey, he looks kind of like a lady". He's perfect for Carlene's PB, so I rolled with it. I DO, however, own Carlene, and as a consequence, I feel I should warn you that she is probably going to offend quite a few people. Not only is she a lesbian, but she is also Asian, and is very aware of both facts. And will probably state it. Like, "I shouldn't have misspelled that word, because I'm Asian :(", or "I only stole your last cig because I'm a lesbian", things that might not even make sense, but she says it anyway. It's just how she rolls. I don't actually hate Asians. Or lesbos. I love both! But Carlene thinks it's funny! Whatever, she's a weirdo. Anyway. You've been warned! | |
